Here’s an interview of David talking about
Mecé Magazine’s beginnings and where he’d like it to go!
Give it a watch!!
Welcome to MECÉ Magazine!
As a photographer, most of my career was all about photographing women for Playboy.
I worked for the magazine as a staff photographer for well over two decades. I was all about the “Rabbit;” I walked it, talked it, lived it, but most of all, photographed it during those years Hef was at the helm.
We feel that classic style of photographing beautiful women in sexy light fading away. Even the models known as Angels are no more. We are creating a place where this artform can flourish. A place to celebrate women’s beauty, both inside and out, along with their necessity in this world.
It seems as if society’s mad dash toward equality has more to do with reducing the talents, accomplishments, and natural gifts of select people than empowering and encouraging people to thrive using their unique talents. Instead of convincing people to downplay their natural gifts to seem more accepting, we challenge all of society to celebrate the differences. We want to emphasize the strengths in people while minimizing their weaknesses.
With MECÉ Magazine, we intend to bring back a taste of that classic look, allowing women to be as proud of how incredible they look as well as shining symbols of intelligence. A contemporary feel, yet with touches of the classic style men and women have loved for so many years, to readers of a younger generation who will also revel in the lifestyle our magazine offers.
Lighting and refining my photography to reflect the model’s beauty and personality have always been my signature trademarks. Whether you are a longtime fan or growing enthusiast, I look forward to sharing all my experience and talent with you at MECÉ Magazine.
In addition to the gorgeous photographs, we will be sharing articles about lifestyle interests such as beauty products, cuisine, wine, travel, all types of tech, automobiles, and yes, tips on photography. Even some magic thrown into the mix here and there.
We will introduce you to a luxury lifestyle and give you tools and information that will help you be a part of that scene. Our goal is to inspire our readers to live life better while having fun, an important element.
We will always strive to provide consistent and compelling content to our readers. Let us begin with one key acronym I want to announce: M.I.T.M!
Welcome to MECÉ Magazine’s Model in the Middle, the photograph that will be the only image stretching edge to edge, 11" x 22", in our magazine. This is the highest honor we can bestow on one of our models, the one who represents all we are at MECÉ Magazine. She must demonstrate natural beauty, yes, but also a dedication to community, and for making a better world in which we live.
In closing, we would like to extend an invitation to models and photographers who are interested in being a part of our vision to contact us. If you are interested in joining us, look for the link and submission guidelines on our website.
We invite you to open our pages, look around at the beauty and articles we offer.
Only a day after this issue has hit the proverbial stands, many of you, along with all of us here at MECÉ will be at the iconic Ghost Bar nightclub inside the Palms Resort and Casino. With us celebrating our first-year publishing MECÉ.
It’s been an enormous undertaking, but we’ve proven it can be done. We’re now working on year two with just as much enthusiasm and excitement as when we started it one year ago. In fact, even more!
So, let’s kick it off by sharing what we’re offering in this June issue.
We begin with a feature on one of the hottest showgirls working in Las Vegas, Dani Elizabeth. And yes, there are still showgirls, those iconic women who made this town the sexiest entertainment capital in the world. Our feature on Dani was photographed for us by Las Vegas-based photographer, Anneli Adolfsson. A woman who has made her mark in photography herself. All to be seen in their pictorial, Dani Elizabeth, Showgirl Legend.
Vegas has some of the most amazing Chefs preparing meals in its casinos. Incredibly delicious fare for the most discriminating palates. But what about those of us who just want fun food with a touch of cool atmosphere to excite our taste buds. While also a tad more affordable. Our Daphne Doettger has done her research for where the locals sit down for something great tasting without big price tags in Bon Appetit Vegas!
Mark Thomas, our UK editor has gathered together an article that will inform yet may also put a bit of a scare into you. It delves into how our sun can be both scary as well as our friend in, The Carrington Event. You may not look at the sun the same way again.
Without saying it, we are constantly scouring the world for the hottest women on the planet for our pictorials. And boy, have we found one incredible subject for our June MODEL in the Middle. Her name represents both a bold fictional character in a video game and a sweet attitude. She’s Azura Grace. And she’s gorgeous and sexy and commands that position in the middle as our MITM.
As always, we try to share how we do it with our photo shoots. In this how it was done, David shares the ins and outs of photographing that centermost position in a magazine. It was once called a gatefold, what we now call, MODEL in the Middle. And though our MITM is the same dimensions of that iconic gatefold, we do it differently. David gives you a glimpse into how it was done for many, many years, then how we do it today.
Last month, we published the first half of an inspired piece written by college student, Jacob McAllister. It was largely a self-analysis of himself with detailed descriptions of the numerous mental disorders that plague not only him, but large numbers of people today. Along with his written word, he also included searing photographs illustrating each. This is Part II of his work, titled, Jacob’s Ladder.
After the Covid shutdown had passed, there began a slow uptick of photo shoots being held here in Las Vegas. Group shoots with several photographers and many more models spending the day creating content for their portfolios and social media. It was at one of those events where David met one very hot model. You will definitely want to see what they accomplished in her pictorial simply titled, Tatiana.
Each month we close the issue with a bit of David’s history. This time it’s a story from when he first moved to LA in the early ‘90s. He was called upon to photograph the cast of the then very popular TV program, thirtysomething. But it was what happened after all the photo shoots were done that makes it even more special. You’ll read all about it in A Loving Look Back.
We’re hoping many of you made our party this month and for those who didn’t, let’s see about next year, shall we?
Enjoy your, and our, June!

David Mecey – Founder/Publisher (Former staff photographer-Playboy) Writer, Photographer, Driver. The man whose ‘near-name’ sits atop this magazine David brings what he did for that iconic publication to Mecé Magazine. Similar, yet different. David’s wish, to add a contemporary, sophisticated feel to the photography while upholding the highest standards for the art. For those yearning to know, also sharing how it’s done.
Ian Branson – Art Director-Web Designer – Ian is our utility infielder and divides his time the way he divides his brain. When he’s working the left half, he is a mild-mannered software architect for a large government contractor. All other times, he is either photographing things, building an airplane, or spending time with his family. For Mecé Magazine, he brings his media and advertising experience to bear to add polish to an otherwise exquisite publication.
Hal Schmitt – Food & Beverage Editor, call sign, ‘Bull’. Former Navy Top Gun pilot-instructor. It was Hal who convinced David he needed to bring out a magazine containing beautiful photography of beautiful women. A more mellow Hal is himself a gifted photographer and serious master of Photoshop, teaching both for years at his own studio, Light Workshops. Hal will make sure things are in order by lending stories about his latest passion, wine, and food. Yes, the man makes his own wine, incredible vintages that are growing more in popularity each new season.
Lou Maggio – Travel Editor - Producer, entrepreneur, longtime friend of David. Having once owned his own modeling agency in Florida, where he met David, he has always had his finger on the pulse of knowing and working with beautiful and talented women. After giving up on the agency life, he worked as director of photography for Florida-based, VENUS swimwear for several years, traveling throughout Florida and the Caribbean on various photo shoots. Since leaving VENUS, he now works as a producer creating movies and TV shows with several produced, with others in current development.
Jeany Zhao – Automotive Editor - Jeany is one of the hottest looking car enthusiasts you’ll ever meet! But a serious one, so don’t let those looks fool you. Working with IMSA at races while also being a writer herself, she’s been published in the Porsche magazine, EXCELLENCE, and so much more. Entrepreneur is a best description, as she’s juggling several businesses constantly, while always finding time to exercise her cars at nearby racetracks. Jeany will be dropping by and sharing a few of her stories about cars and her involvement in motorsports, so keep an eye peeled for her.
Mark Thomas – U. K. Editor - Our U.K. editor will be working with us from across the pond in England. He began reviewing Playboy Magazine 2 years ago on YouTube with a recent feature on Forbes.com. What began as “magazine archaeology” took him on a wishful path to recreate the look, feel, freedom and overall creative depth of the classic publication. After a chance meeting with our publisher, Mr. Mecey, Mark realized MECÉ was already doing that but with a modern twist. Mark brings features on Britain’s extensive history and the market of world leading goods; cigars, spirits and drinks, tailoring, and automotive engineering. He will also introduce us to creative individuals of note that put Britain on the world stage.
Daphne Doettger – Eats, Meats, & Treats Guest Contributor – Daphne travels the country sampling the good, the bad, and the ugly, specializing in those holes-in-the-wall establishments that are tucked away miles off the beaten path. She has a passion for all things culinary. This month, she wanders around the great state of Colorado, stopping off in the mining towns of Durango and Silverton before heading up to Colorado Springs.
