What’s Inside Our May

This is the first issue in our second year of publishing. It’s such an exciting time, in so many ways. With the first item of business inviting all our readers to join us for our incredible oneyear anniversary party celebration! It’s being hosted by the epic nightclub, Ghost Bar, high atop the Palms Casino Resort, here in Las Vegas.

All the details can be found in our ad following the travel feature about the Palms’ new owners, its luxurious suites, and Ghost Bar. We would love to have you join us as our VIP guests.

Our May issue opens with an article penned by our art director, Ian Branson.

Ian loves movies and one of his favorites was one that has become a cult classic. The Shawshank Redemption is a 1994 movie set in a Maine prison in the early 20th century starring Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman. Ian takes us inside the prison where the movie was filmed, showing us rooms, filming locations, props. He also fills in a little backstory on how it all came about. It’s a fascinating look into this iconic film.

Last November our MODEL in the Middle was model and actress, Irena Murphy. After a night in Vegas and while driving home the following day, she ran out of gas. All captured in her pictorial, with a few fringe benefits... she is photographed totally naked while attempting to hitch a ride. We revisit Irena, this time wearing a tad bit more. Yet we feel certain you’ll enjoy the wardrobe we chose for her.

Following Irena is a special travel feature about the Palms Casino and Resort. Now for the first time, a Las Vegas casino is owned by the San Manuel Mission Indians. It is newly renovated with a new direction for this classic gambling mecca. We share a look inside a few of their most luxurious suites and its epic nightclub, Ghost Bar.

This month’s MODEL in the Middle is a beauty from the Midwest who is both a model and a photographer. Our centerfold model, Megan Dillingham looks beyond fantastic in her feature pictorial photographed inside the Palms’ Loft Suite (dubbed the Johnny Depp suite). And of course, followed by a detailed explanation of how David did it.

As you know, MECÉ is a lifestyle magazine that includes beautiful photographs of gorgeous women. Where we also strive to make our features both interesting and sophisticated. We asked our UK editor, Mark Thomas, to find us something that fit the bill. He succeeded by bringing us a look into the Davidoff tobacco empire. It’s an article about the family-owned business dealing in the highest quality cigar and drinks, in The Davidoff Difference.

Speaking of beautiful photographs of gorgeous women, our third pictorial is a model who went from beauty queen to model actress. David was fortunate to meet Leslie McClure when she first moved to Vegas. They worked together often, she as a model for a few of his clients, and on occasion, modeling for his workshops. We share a few of the images they created together.

As our readers know, each month we feature someone special as our Q&A-7 interview subject. But while judging an art exhibit at the College of Nevada, David met a special young man. Jacob McAllister was one of the students sharing his work project from school. But Jacobs was beyond a normal college project. His was a personal assessment of the many mental and physical disorders he and a female friend had endured. David was stunned by how forthcoming he was with his writing and more, the photographs he accomplished to describe each trauma.

David felt his story should take the place of Q&A-7 for two issues to show the anguish of what many people may be facing today. How important it is to show this to the world in hopes it will help others dealing with such dilemmas in their lives. This will be Part 1 of a two-part series by Jacob McAllister, titled, Jacob’s Ladder.

Closing out the issue is David’s, A Loving Look Back. It’s the story of the relationship David developed with one of the largest lingerie manufacturers in the world, Shirley of Hollywood. How a simple tryout ended by securing him a client for nearly three decades. Then creating a relationship with the owners that made him feel as if he were a part of the family as much as their photographer.

That’s our May! We hope to see you all on the evening of June 2nd here in Las Vegas at the Ghost Bar nightclub. We promise the celebration to be a stellar affair!
